Wayne Cummings

Program Founder/Lead Mentor

Wayne is a 25 Year Army Veteran, Physician Assistant with multiple tours in his service of Canada. He is the founder of Alliance Veterans PTSD Retreat in 2014, and sits on the Board of Directors of it's Canadian non-profit organization. He is the Medical Authority for the program, and Lead Mentor.His medical experience also encompasses Certified Instructor for  First Aid, CPR (level C), AED. He is a  PADI Advanced diver, qualified in both Dive & Advanced Dive Medicine, and he has additional backgrounds in rappelling, & mountaineer.

Tom Powell


Retired US Navy SEAL
During his military career he served at the Tier 1/2 levels having performed as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Anti and counter terrorism, MOUT, CQB and Maritime Operations.

Jani Drew

Senior Mentor/Administrator

Jani sits on the Board of Directors of Alliance Veterans Retreat, and is a Senior Mentor, who is from Nanaimo B.C. She is a retired Military Police Officer, and Emergency Program Manager. She also has worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Her experience as a military Commercial Diver, 200H Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga  Instructor, Warriors at Ease Instructor Level 1, Trauma based yoga instructor, and a volunteer with the Philippine Red Cross is a true asset to the programs guiding principals. 



Jacob Davis


Jake is a US security contractor with tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.  He currently is a PSD team Leader and medic in Iraq. He  also holds a US paramedic license.

Julian Low


Julian is a 22 year Toronto Police Officer. He is currently working as an Explosive Technician, active in his duty. He is a PADI Divemaster, and certified Resuce Diver but is an overall sports enthusiast. His years of dedicated service are highlighted in his Exemplary Service Award presented in 2015

22 year USA veteran piloting the A7-D Corsair & KC-135R Stratotanker in missions around the globe. "At the time of my service my mindset was focused on accomplishing the missions and coming back safely. Now my focus is on peace of mind and living well "

Bruno is a 15 year veteran who lives in Victoria B.C, is a Veteran, North Pole Explorer, Entrepreneur, Coach, and Invictus Games and Bell Let's Talk Ambassador. 



Sean Murphy


Sean is a 22 year US Army veteran, with multiple tours in Iraq,  And Afghanistan. Currently he works as  a US security contractor as the Logistical Director Middle East and Africa

Cynthia Cummings

Program Manager

Cynthia is the Alliance Veterans Retreat Program Director.  With her husband Wayne, she is the co-owner of Cummings Highlands Eco Resort  Inc. and Katahimikan Yoga School. She is a certified  200H Yoga Instructor, Warriors at Ease Instructor Level 1, Trauma based yoga instructor,  a volunteer with the Philippine Red Cross, and assists as an Adventure Guide and PADI diver.

Starr Cummings

Lead Yoga Instructor/Island Guide

Starr is our retreat Yoga Alliance Accredited 200H Yoga Instructor specializing in: Trauma Based Yoga & Warriors at Ease Instructor Level 1. She is a Lead Adventure Guide, PADI  Dive Instructor, Certified Resuce Diver and  POUND fitness instructor. She is a CPR, First Aid, and Emergency First Responder qualified, and her career dedication is to the health and wellness of the military and their families.

William T. Beck

Adventure Guide Assistant

William is from Victoria, BC and is currently serving in his 9th year with the Canadian Royal Navy, as a Naval Communicator. He is lending his skills as an avid outdoorsman. He assists the program guides on the Island when rock climbing, repelling and kayaking .
